Hello, I'm Nico. I'm a third year Computer Engineering Student and a Full-Stack Developer
Career Goals
As a Computer Engineering student with a strong foundation in both software and hardware aspects of computing, my career goals are centered around developing and enhancing technological solutions that are impactful, user-friendly, and accessible. My ambition is driven by a passion to utilize my technical expertise to craft systems that significantly improve everyday life and streamline business operations.
User experience (UX) design is crucial for accomplishing such goals. Effective UX design guarantees that everything I develop is intuitive and accomplishes the users' needs. This is critical because, ultimately, the success of a technological solution is largely determined by its usability and user interface, regardless of the sophistication of its underlying technology. By integrating solid UX practices into my work, I am committed to ensuring that technology not only meets its intended goals but does so in a way that enhances user satisfaction and engagement. Looking forward, I aim to gain enough experience that would enable me to design solutions that people will find necessary as well as enjoyable.
My Favorite App/Service
Strava
Strava is an American internet service for tracking physical exercise which incorporates social network features. It started out tracking mostly outdoor cycling and running activities using Global Positioning System data, but now incorporates several dozen other exercise types, including indoor activities.
Strava: Run, Bike, Hike
Strava is one of my favorite apps because it is not just a running app; it's a community that energizes my passion for running. It helps me reach my goals by providing detailed insights and fostering a sense of camaraderie in my community.
- User Interface: Strava's design is clean and intuitive, which makes the app accessible to beginners while still offering advanced features for seasoned athletes. The straightforward layout allows me to focus on my performance without unnecessary distractions.
- Performance Tracking: Beyond basic metrics like pace, distance, and heart rate, it provides advanced performance analytics that include elevation gained, calories burned, and a detailed analysis of my running pace over different terrains. This comprehensive data helps me understand the nuances of my workouts and improve my program to improve my endurance and speed.
- Social Network for Athletes: Strava creates a vibrant community where athletes can connect, share their activities, and motivate each other. This social connectivity is more than just sharing; it's about celebrating each other's achievements and pushing one another to excel.
- Groups/Clubs/Community: The app fosters a sense of belonging by allowing me to join various clubs and groups where I can participate in challenges and meet runners with similar interests. This community aspect makes running a more social and engaging activity.
- Explore and Compete: Strava's "Segment Leaderboard" and exploration features are brilliantly designed to bring a sense of adventure and competition to every run. I can explore segments that other users have created, attempt to claim the top spot, or even create my own segments. This feature transforms ordinary routes into exciting challenges, keeping my routine fresh and engaging.

What I'm looking for in an internship
Mentorship and Learning Opportunities
I am eager to secure an internship at a company that provides direct mentorship from experienced IT professionals. This mentorship is vital as it facilitates hands-on learning, which is crucial for refining my skills and deepening my understanding of UX principles and technology in real-world scenarios. Such guidance is important in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, which would help me transition from the theoretical knowledge gained at my university to the demands of professional environments.
Meaningful Projects
I am drawn to opportunities that involve innovative projects pushing the boundaries of technology and design. Moreover, I also like to find opportunities that foster my growth and challenge my current skill set while allowing me to contribute meaningfully. Working on these types of projects are paramount in continuously improving my skills while also igniting my passion for tech.
Collaborative Environment
I value internships that emphasize a collaborative work environment where I get to freely exchange ideas and feedback among team members across different disciplines. This environment helps foster growth where diverse perspectives are valued and integrated into my work. This type of environment would also enhance my communication skills and my ability to work effectively in team settings, preparing me for future roles in any technology-driven industry.
